Travel day to Turkiye Thursday May 15, 2025
Thanking God for a safe day of travel with some delays but no missed flights and no security issues!! The group is tucked up in our first hotel in Istanbul ( Craig did have to wait extra hours alone at the Istanbul airport for a couple from our group with a lengthy delay).
As we sit in our hotel room looking out at the gorgeous cityscape of Istanbul, the Muslim call to prayer is loud and long and haunting - a constant part of the atmosphere. What a sad irony that the land which cradled the early Christian church, where Paul and other apostles spread the good news of Christ’s resurrection and our salvation - starting so many early churches - is now nearly bereft of any Christian influence. We pray that God would keep safe Christian missionaries and Christian churches in Turkey today and see the word spread again in this part of the world.
Early start tomorrow. Heading a little south to the ancient city of Nicea (Iznik) to visit the city where the 1st and 7th major ecumenical counsels took place.

Driving to hotel after arriving in Istanbul. Hoping for some sleep and than an early start to Iznik (Nicea) in the morning.
