Portable Hard Drives, Laptops, Bibles and Organization.
“All things should be done decently and in order.”
1 Corinthians 14:40
This last week we took two and a half days to organize our drone footage and begin organizing all of our biblical travel photos. We traveled north to a friend’s cabin in Silver Bay Minnesota early on Thursday morning (after my mandatory stop at Starbucks) and stayed until Saturday around noon. It was a cold couple of Minnesota days in northern Minnesota on a very quiet lake. It was perfect! The cabin had a fire place and was warm and cozy. There was also strong Wifi and a very strong vibe of nostalgia, grandma, fireplace, and generations of family gatherings. We could also spread out all of our stuff. We had six portable hard drives, four laptops, notebooks, phones, bibles and enough dongles and cables to circle the globe.
The goal was to develop a master back up and storage system of all of our pictures so that we could both access and easily find labeled photos and videos for our posts and have a secure place where everything is backed up. I thought we would be close to finishing the entire project in a few days. Margery had a much more ominous feeling that this would involve a lot of time. She was right (as usual).
The good news is that I am 75% done with labeling and filing all of the drone video and drone photos (I had a lot of labeling already done). Margery began with our first trip photos (Israel 2020 trip) and specifically with just my photos from that trip and she still has a ways to go, including all of her photos from that trip.
We did take a short break Friday evening to meet some friends for supper near Two Harbors. It was a nice break and so good to see and catch up with some very close friends that we had not seen for a couple of years. It was also a nice break from the stew we brought to eat and the candy we found at the cabin (Tootsie Rolls, Twix, and Werther’s hard candy). We both still feel a tad sick. We also traveled into Silver Bay Friday afternoon to find the one “grocery store” to pick up some necessities and replace the cabin candy stash!
All in all we got a lot of work done. It was good to get away. And it was a fun stroll down memory lane. God has blessed us with opportunities to see so many amazing places where the people and accounts of the Bible come alive in a new way! And to make and meet some amazing new friends.
